Illy CS5 PDF Washed Out

Hey all,

I'm trying to figure out why my PDFs look washed out in CS5.
Should I be changing any setting before I save the PDF?

Any help would be appreciated - Thanks

I've been using CS5 for awhile now. I've been saving PDF's as digital proofs and submitting them to our rips without any problems. Acrobat has various options as you save out a PDF for various applications (print, web, etc...) Be sure to make sure you are using the correct color spaces and saving the file as the correct type of PDF. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks BC
I've noticed the same thing - when I send a PDF to print it's fine.
But when I view it on screen the colors get washed out.
I'll have to dig around and mess with the color spaces - see what happens.
Thanks for the info

When I open CMYK PDF's with my preview app, it does appear washed out because it is trying to simulate paper color on an RGB screen. if you save it with an RGB color space, it should look right.

I would say something like this is going on. Same thing happens when you use a color that isn't "web safe" for internet use. It'll appear blurry, wash out etc.

I did notice when saving PDf from RGB the colors don't appear to be washed out (on screen).
I'll have to check on my color management.
Didn't think about saving as PDF 1.5
I'll also have to give that link a read when I have some free time.

Thanks for the info all - it's much appreciated
