image redirects to adult site

Never had this happen before...

I heard this morning that Charlie Callas died. So I wanted to know who he was, and did a google image search. Clicked on one to see a closeup and 3 seconds later, instead the image redirected to a hardcore porn site.

How can this be prevented? What happens if my child was surfing innocently or when they happen to look over my shoulder?

pretty much any net-nanny software will help. the software will spot keywords and block the site if it's not listed as an adult site. Sometimes that might annoy you (especially if it's a site that has no adult content) ... but it will tell you the sites blocked and you can set it to ignore the site if you know it doesn't have adult content.

I remember that potential was realized here when an offsite pic was posted & the host who saw a spike in traffic & didn't appreciate the bandwidth drain swapped in some less desirable image... the guy was even banned for a short time until this sequence of events came to light, resulting in the ban being lifted, but the "no off site pics" rule being strengthened around here.

It does seem to work. That same pic no longer redirected to the adult site but rather continued on to the proper link

I do the same thing but with an image that is a banner ad for my site. I figure if they are stealing bandwidth, the least I should get is some advertising out of it.

another way to fix this in firefox is to check the box in the tools menu/options/advanced/accessibility menu "to warn me if the site redirects me to a new page or tries to reload" this will open a toolbar at the top f the page like pop-ups do with an allow button and or an x to close the toolbar,....
