importing AI files into FlexiSign Pro 8.1V1

Sometimes we can import AI files with no problem, sometimes we have nothing but problems . I am assuming this is based on what version of Illustrator created the file. So question is what version of AI files can Flexisign Pro 8.1V1 open.

I have a client that is trying to send artwork and I can not open, What version should i tell him to export as ???

Tell him to convert to curves and send as a .eps or .pdf

yeah, what he said, but he may not know what "convert to curves" means, so tell him any type should be selected & then under the type menu, he needs to "create outlines".

Also, tell him to make sure everything is within the artboard
