Importing vectors to VE LXi Expert

Hi there, I am pretty new to all this ... so here is my doubt:

I am trying to import vector images with Vinyl Express LXi 6.6.1 version and I just can't do it.
I have Adobe Illustrator CS4 14.0.0.
I have already tried to import from LXi and also copy and paste on it, but nothing has worked.
I the problem is with the Illustrator file version of the image, how can I change that?
What is the best way to import vector images to VE LXi 6.6.1?

Export as EPS from AI then import as EPS into LXI

Export as EPS Version 3 from Illustrator then open or import into LXI. Insure that all text and special effects has been converted to outlines.
