In honor and memory of my dad...

James Burke

Being a grandpa is more fun than working
It's been a rough time for our family, but we are thankful and blessed he didn't linger or have any pain. We were all there, and I held his hand as he quietly slipped away.

If you've ever wondered, it is still possible to do some of the things "the way they used to do"...

The funeral director honored my wishes to allow myself and my son to help dress dad and place him in his casket (after they dressed him in his under clothing). The pastor allowed me to assume a considerable role in the service, and the family remained at the grave until it was closed.

Many of our friends were surprised and didn't know such things were still permitted. And while I can't say that it's for everybody, I can't think of a better way to honor the very special man I call "daddy". For me, it was such a blessing and time of healing.

My condolences for your loss ...and congratulatory respect for your fine honor of your "Dad". I'm sure he would be very proud of you and say, "Well done, my son".

Your father must have been a great person to raise a good son. Your father will always live in you and in your son.

I could not imagine doing that.... i'm tearing up for you James.
You take care of yourself and your family. That takes some strength to do that probably, i couldn't....
I wrote my grandfathers obituary and that was rough.... but healing for me.
My condolences to you all.

So sorry for your loss. Losing a dad is a very emotional thing to go through. I lost mine five years ago, and think about him every day. Im sure you will too. You did a very honorable thing for your dad. Be proud...
