Ink cost

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone out there could tell me how to calculate how much the ink cost say per square metre.

I have just purchased a SC500 that is running on Roland Eco Sol Inks, as this is the first machine that I have owned myself I am not sure how to calculate the ink cost. As I never had to worry about the cost using a business machine they done all that.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction.

Regards:help

If you use versaworks for your rip it will give you an estimated usage for each job. Roland advertises $.25sf (as low as) so I assume that would be for light coverage. I guestimate at $.35 or somewhere around $3 US per sq meter. It is only maybe 3% of the total cost of the job so I really don't think about it too much. Don't sweat the ink if you are a custom shop. I can see it if you were a huge wholesale roll to roll type operation selling at bottom dollar but I for one am not tempted to try and save using 3rd party inks. Instead of buying whole sets of carts at a time we make it a policy to have extra carts on hand and we always place our orders for replacements the same time that that particular color runs out so we can stagger our bill a little.

Rugby pitch stadium (ball park figures in the States) figures: +/- .20 cents per square foot = +/- $2.15 per square meter for OEM inks
