Installation area pics

Hey all,

So we are adding a 6600 sq' area for vehicle installations. Our dpt currently shares space with the screen printing and embroidery divisions and we've outgrown that space. Our new area will have a total of 4 14' bay doors and one man door. It's basically am empty rectangle. I'd love to see some pics of others installation areas for inspiration if possible? Printers and laminators will be staying where they are so this is just for install. Thanks - Kevin.

Here is the new space, Steel starts tomorrow!!

Drool.............!

I have nothing to contribute but will be keeping an eye on this thread.

Sure wish we had room to add to our building!

Congrats on the addition and good luck with the set up. :thumb:

Thx! I'll update as it moves along.

LED lights on the walls really helped here, and paint everything white to help bounce light around. Put a LOT of outlets in and put in a workbench area for installers to keep their tools on and rechargeable tools plugged in at.

I'll have to take a current picture but this is what our install bay started out as about 4 years ago when we bought this property (it was an old millwork that had gone bankrupt). Truly incredible amounts of sawdust and scrap work everywhere. Just cleaning up took a couple of weeks. Then removed that structure right in the middle. Early on I changed all the old overhead 8' T12 fixtures to T5HO which helped a lot. Still a long ways to go though as I only have but so much time and budget. Exterior walls are all 6" and fully insulated as well as a full attic above with about a foot of insulation. Three 150,000 BTU forced air gas heaters hanging from the ceiling provide way more than enough heat. A future project is to wall in a section to create a separate smaller inside bay inside the main bay which will be cooled with a 3 ton AC unit I have in storage. To cool the entire bay all the time in the hot summer here would just be too expensive as there is often just one or two vehicles in there being worked on. Also in the works is to eventually paint all the walls and ceiling white in addition to adding more lighting on the side walls (have already added some) to further brighten things up. At 129' x 43' its overall about 5500 sf of install bay. I've had four 35' city buses inside at once along with a couple of smaller vehicles. Right now there is a 40' city bus and two box ambulances in there with room for more. :) Looking at this old photo now just looks bizarre to me....

I wish we would have had a drive-thru area for 53' trailers. It is a pain to have the driver's back them in.

That's our biggest pain as well....... access from the outside is limited. Eventually I may look at rearranging things in the bay and add another big door on the front end of the building which would then allow just that. Right now trailers have to be backed in and big things like coaches and buses can back in or drive straight in but they still have to go back out the same door as the side door is not quite wide enough. Through the side door, about the longest single vehicle that I can make the turn with is about a 22' box truck or about a 22' trailer.
