Installation code of conduct agreement?

While I personally feel a lot of the same sentiment as y'all about not wanting to be told what to and not to do on a site.... I work for a larger school district and it is my understanding that no one can be contracted to work on our properties without following some pretty specific rules. Most of these have to do with safety and background checks to make sure we don't do things like mix felons with students, etc.... but some have things like making sure everyone is paid a 'prevailing wage' or making sure no employee is being treated unfairly because their boss was the lowest bidder. Some pertain to dress code and others to conduct while working on our properties. I believe we expect anyone who is working on our property to be dressed professional enough that they do not look out of place (though there is specific language somewhere).

If you don't want to respect someone's wishes on their own property (while making money...) - you do not have to, just pass on the work.

Over the years, this has been requested of us and in turn I've requested people to do it for us.

Ya don't want a person representing your company to use foul or slur type language. No off-color jokes or just wasting time on the job jabbering about bullsh!t,
Had a guy show up once wearing a t shirt with naked girls all over the front and one mammoth one on the back. Do ya want that out there representing you ??

I totally understand the request.

The proper way to respond is not to argue with them, but let them know you already do follow those same rules and are quite professional in your own image or representing their company. Why act like a jackass over something so obvious ??
normally i am the only one representing my company using that type of language

It is not farfetched to realize that the time spent meeting all these qualifications can exceed the profitability of the job.
Precisely. As if major corporations didn't already suck enough, now they're ramping it up with 'diversity' nonsense.

I emailed this customer back and said all that paperwork wasn't worth my time for such a small job. Never heard one word back. :p

I have customers that subcontract for others and they are required to wear specific colors, typically safety green. Sometimes they need vests with reflective, etc. so I'm used to doing rush jobs for these guys.

I'm lucky, usually just me and the dogs alone in my part of the building, rarely ever have to deal with people. I'm not a polo shirt and khaki kind of guy, but I'm professional enough to at least wear pants and shoes instead of joggers and slippers when the need arises. What more could you ask for?

LOL! I'm glad to hear this...my neighbor works from home since Covid. He used to dress up in button ups and khakis. Since covid I haven't seen him in anything but sloppy oversized t-shirts and joggers or pajama pants. Such a schlupus.

I was going to accuse you of making up words, but Schlupus actually came up in the urban dictionary. :roflmao:

Seriously, I do wear joggers and slippers most of the time, and a company t-shirt of course. It's not to be defiant or anything, it's not sloppy stuff.
I'm old, they sucked me back out of retirement, all I ask for is to be comfortable.

I remember switching employeers and being able to wear jeans instead of khakis. So nice, haven't wore a pair in 20 years. I hate khakis and tucking in my shirt.

i have to admit, i probably haven't tucked in my shirt in quite a while
i guess that is what made "untuckit" shirts popular

No one will tell me how to dress and how to act during install. They dont own me. This is uncalled for and absolute bs, its getting out of hand. These are the same pricks that will take 90 days to pay

I hire out subs and I'm surprised the amount that wear shorts and sneakers to an active construction site. There is a dress code on construction sites and GC's will enforce it. Having a dress code ensures you won't be turned around for looking like you're going to play tennis.

I try to remember to ask for the "Vendor Qualification Packet and Contract sample" BEFORE I quote a job. In the past I have gotten stuck filling out time-consuming paperwork to submit in order to get paid. And now all kinds of forms, NDA (non-disclosure agreement), references, bank info, etc are being required. It is not farfetched to realize that the time spent meeting all these qualifications can exceed the profitability of the job. Jobs under $10,000 should be done through a simple Purchase Order. And while I am ranting, I also want to add that I don't agree with the clause in the subcontracts saying I won't get paid until the prime contractor gets paid! We got strung out for many months waiting on payment from a builder.
This is something I need to do. The job seems simple until you find out about all the hoops you have to jump through to get paid. Last one required me to use some payment system that took about 3% out of the payment I received to use this system they required. I wish I'd known about that ahead of time and I could have added that onto the bid. Not to mention all of the time spent getting it set up.

Oh wow, this is genius. All payments must be made via jburton's personal courier service; airfare, hotel, and rental expenses to be paid by subcontractor. Pay all that and I'll roll up in an audi to ask you for the difference in my favor.
What forking payment system was this? I can't wrap my head around why it would ever be necessary, unless you're selling overseas with some escrow embargo type hooey.

Some of the nearby school districts use these payment services. They claim it makes it so you get paid quicker. I am not really sure why they would use them, but I suspect that one of the primary reasons an organization might use them is to prevent embezzlement by a secretary.
