Okay, save the ruined track for another job when you have acrylic to acrylic, but use Weld-On16 next time around. It's like toothpaste, dries slower and will fill in the voids made by your mistake.
Get yourself some new track and tape it on with the 2 sided tape VHB - - Very-High Bond. Be sure you EXPLAIN to your supplier what materials you are bonding together and if it's inside or outside. Many here don't know this either, but there are quite a few levels/uses for VHB all using the same code name. While some are acrylic, some are foam and some are a solvent base. They all have their specific areas in which to be used for best results. Do as you did and it will surely fail, again. Essentra and 3M are probably the leading manufacturers of this stuff. However, nothing beats a physical fastener so as mentioned a few times, use them after the tape is in place.
As for a place of learning..... did it say somewhere on the entrance exam you would be handled like a total professional or at the level of your request ?? As for your salesperson, you tell him/her. As we told you of your shortcomings, it is your duty to let them know they are giving out wrong information...... or don't you care about the next guy getting the same wrong information as you did ?? tell me who it is.... and I will inform them.
Remember, as you get to know the smart @sses, we immediately know the other kind.
