Installation of changeable track

I am installing 4 lines of rigid 8' track on a thick piece of alupanel double sided. I used Weldon to glue the track down and the next day they peeled off. Any idea what I can use to clean the dried on Weldon off the tracks so I can use them again? Also, any suggestions how to properly install these would be great. Thanks.

weldon is for acrylic to acrylic.

might have to bust out a razer blade and shave it off to reuse

rivets every foot + some vhb should work well

While it's not really funny, but sad..... how someone can just pick up a tube of something, use it, have it fall apart..... and never have read the instructions.

Tape to get it in place properly, but rivet it down to make sure it stays down. Tape will eventually let go, also.

Glad you have time to take a photo. I thought this was a forum to help but there are always the ones who know everything! Getting to know who they are! I have used weldon years ago many times for acrylic, but this being a different install I asked the sales person who told me it bonds metal to acrylic too, so I dint read the tube. Maybe you have the time to to contact her to make fun of as well.

For those with respectable comments, what is VHB?

Do you mean the plastic rivits used fr acrylic too? If so, the ones i have will go through to the other side, and i am putting track on both sides.

Okay, save the ruined track for another job when you have acrylic to acrylic, but use Weld-On16 next time around. It's like toothpaste, dries slower and will fill in the voids made by your mistake.

Get yourself some new track and tape it on with the 2 sided tape VHB - - Very-High Bond. Be sure you EXPLAIN to your supplier what materials you are bonding together and if it's inside or outside. Many here don't know this either, but there are quite a few levels/uses for VHB all using the same code name. While some are acrylic, some are foam and some are a solvent base. They all have their specific areas in which to be used for best results. Do as you did and it will surely fail, again. Essentra and 3M are probably the leading manufacturers of this stuff. However, nothing beats a physical fastener so as mentioned a few times, use them after the tape is in place.

As for a place of learning..... did it say somewhere on the entrance exam you would be handled like a total professional or at the level of your request ?? As for your salesperson, you tell him/her. As we told you of your shortcomings, it is your duty to let them know they are giving out wrong information...... or don't you care about the next guy getting the same wrong information as you did ?? tell me who it is.... and I will inform them.

Remember, as you get to know the smart @sses, we immediately know the other kind.

How thin is this sign ?? Do you realize or know the amount of flexing this sign is going to do ?? Where is it located ?? How high in the air ?? How big is it ?? What size letters are you going to be using ?? What thickness letters ??

It sounds like you're making a sign which will fail regardless of what glue or tape you use.

you SHOULD use mechanical fasteners too -- the only way I can think on a double sided ACM sign is - make sure your placement of track is PERFECT on both sides, and use machine screws and bolts through both tracks...not even metal rivets will work

Still at it....lol! no exam, just thought i would get mature repsonses.
3'x8', 1/2"matte alupanel, dbl sided sign, rigid tracks both sides, 6 on 7'' plastic,
Bottom of sign 5' from ground approx.

maybe just a few screws on each track that don't go into the ACM more than halfway...

ETA: or stagger your screws a bit to have more bite without hitting ones on the other side
