Installation on Ribbed Trailer

I have to install a semi-circle logo, 2 colours on a trailer (pic attached). I suggested that I could do it on an aluminum sheet for them to install but they prefer it to go on the trailer directly. It will be 48" h x 66"w, both sides. The depth of the ridges is 1 1/2" deep. Can this be done and should I use cut vinyl or print on a cast wrap film? I have a 30" printer/cutter. I would probably sub out the decal so I don't have to tile it. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

yes it can be done, there are some points to be aware of.

• Finished Size, your 48 x 64 size is NOT going to be your finished size, you are loosing 3" per valley
• Visibility, if you try to read/view the information from an angle then there will be distortion / hidden points that can only bee seen from a straight on view.

Looks like a sea can. I've done several for the Canadian Cross. You can see them on my FB Page- North Shore Signs & Graphics- Photos. You will see that from an angle the lettering gets distorted as mentioned. But the radius of those are easily manageable. The weld every few feet are the only trip up and they are usually pretty easy to handle.

Why not install a Banner frame and save you and your client headaches, time, and money?

NM I reread it and you want to do cut logos... Just take in to consideration everything above:
1) you overall size will shrink 3-6" per rib
2) try to do it as one piece as alignment is a pain on these.
3) make sure your client know that it will only be fully visible at a 90 degree angle to the trailer.

And in regards to your question about material, get it printed in one piece on wrapping cast. It will save you lots of time and headaches.

If you need to calculate how much distortion/loss of width you will encounter, mark off your original width on premask then lay it into the channels and you'll see how much you'll lose. Then factor in that percentage and add it to your overall size.

basically stretch the whole thing, and as you apply it will 'shrink back' to optimal length.
you can get all fancy and only stretch every x inches that will be in the channels, but it probably wont be needed.

Looks like I have to tile it with my 30" printer. They want it 54" high and 77" wide so there will be 3 sections lengthwise with the ribbing which should hide it abit. I don't think I can get it printed in one piece elsewhere as I have to install on Monday.
I stretched it just enough to make use of the vinyl, 3 - 54" pieces at 28" wide.
