Interior wayfinding signs

I know nothing about ADA rules, I was hoping to pass this on and just do the install. PITA is what it sounds like. If it ain't fun to do, the ol' Mosh doesn't want any part of it.

How big are the hospitals?
Is this up for bid or have the signs been designed already?

The bigger they are, the less fun they tend to be. (unless you are a code geek)

Lighten up Fresh.. I'm a one man design shop trying to make a living, but have been around to know that is a small order and the quoted turn around time seems too fast for a company like Scott.

Thank you. I wish I knew this information prior to ordering from them. As much as I like their product, I can't stand to disappoint my customers with false promises. In the long run, I'm the one that looks like an ***hole, not the manufacturer. Do you know of anyone else that makes a similar directory system to the Snaplock? I tried Clarke but their prices were VERY high for a similar system and I need the panels painted which they said they don't do.

Hey guys, I produce on average 300-600 ADA signs a month. I have done business with a few on this board and everyone was happy. When it comes to Rowmark or acrylic my prices can't be beat. So give me a shot guys, you won't be disappointed. Gene

I agree. but now that you know, you might still be stuck with Scott for affordable extrusion based directories. They are all pretty much pricey, if I had too, I actually prefer Clarke... and from the capabilities brochure I have, they do custom colors, but I am not a sign shop. They may treat their designer clients different or they changes their policy the last time I talked to them (some 8 or 9 years ago)

I personally loathe system signage I avoid single source extrusion solutions at all costs. Why? When it's time for updating, replacing is a pain, expensive, and sloooooow.

If you have basic manufacturing capabilities, you might try another option, like acrylic and stand-off, or some panel directory... you get to keep more money in your pocket by manufacturing, and you control the turnaround time.

if you can not manufacture, there are custom shops that can do it.
A Signs 101 merchant member like http://www.signdesignandfabrication.com/ might be better solution.

I got the customer hooked up with Apco directly, I am going to just do the install.
After talking to the customers 3-4 more times I know this is going to be a LONG process of designing the signs. I don't have the time to mess with it, I have too many projects going the way it is.

Never really thought about it until this thread came up. I was at the hospital to visit someone Sunday and this thread made me count the signs. Just the short walk from the elevator to the room (and I do mean short) there were 32 door signs, 6 large directionals, and three really large hanging signs. From where I was standing I could see $4000 - $5000 in just Vista Systems signs....and that's just one short hallway in one department on one wing of a six story hospital. It had just never occurred to me that redoing the door signs in that hospital would easily be a $100,000 project.

Pat, apartment signs and office buildings are the same, there is way more than just the ID sign but how many times do sign people ask about the other signs...

I just installed some interior plaques in a hospital for another company and the quality was absolute S***. The components were falling apart. It was from Scott. Also this order was severely behind schedule as the other sign compnay had it shipped to me and called every freakin day to make sure I have gotten it yet.

I will not use scott as of what I learned from this install Im seriously thinking Scott is using inferior companies to produce their signage now as it took forever to get them in and they literally are falling apart. Less inferior compnay that is

Didnt they have a big layoff a while back?
