Have you ever set up icloud? It should have a back up of all your data. Make sure you do before restoring. That is probably your only option.

Itunes backs up your phone to your computer or icloud.

go to itunes>preferences> and click on devices and you should see your backups

IF you just took those photos and it did not back up since then, you likely could lose them after doing a restore. Restoring with no backup will lose everything. You have been warned

Also login to another computer or account and see if that makes a difference.

non-iphone devices are recognized as its own hard disk, when connected to a computer. Apple products, however, are not and require iTunes or ImageCapture software to read/extract files.

What OS are you using on your computer. I just had this issue for windows 8 and it was a driver error. I'll try and find the forum that helped me fix it and post it for you.

If you don't have itunes, you probably need to update the driver for it......... i think Windows 7 automatically downloaded the driver for mine.

That being said, with the security features on my 5s, I have to unlock the phones screen before my computer sees it.
