When you're not using the printer, do you leave the lever open or closed? I ask because I'm wondering if there isn't some ink on your lower pinch-wheels that's being transferred to your upper pinch-wheels.

lever open to prevent flat spots. the wheels have never touched the ink I have not cut anything unlaminated so no ink has ever come into contact with the rollers. I have only had the machine a couple of months and bought it new. Roland SP 540I

definitely looks like ink transfer from the pinch rollers.

OR possibly a piece of "fuzz" (hair/dust/fiber) under the print carriage, that's wicking freshly printed ink.

OR possibly built-up ink "gunk" on the cyan printhead that's scuffing the media on each pass? error in that one-line only could be also result from a slight buckle of the media due to too warm a pre/print temp for the media.

That looks to me like overspray sticking to the rollers due to static. What's your humidity level in the shop?

We have had similar problems with our machine. I am not familiar with your machine but what I did was take the rollers out and let them soak over night in alcohol (99%...you can water it down a little). Then wipe them off with a soft cloth and put them back in. Also, heat plays a little bit of a role so try turning the heat down...right now I am running no heat and it is printing like a champ. Im running a mutoh vj1624

it is not an issue of dirty rollers I think Donny has it with static the wheels never touch the print. The ink is attracted to the area that the rollers rode over after the fact.

I have this issue when I print on an 11 mil layflat vinyl we use for displays. I have to print them uni-directional to make them look good at all but I get those nasty marks half way up the print. Only on one side, from the uni I guess. They are all roughly 35x85" prints.....so if this is static, what is the solution? I was told to unwind some of the roll before it enters the printer, but so far that does nothing.....do i need dryer sheets at the back? any help?
