got this email on Saturday:

Hello Sir/ Madam,

I'm Mr. John Lee and I'm sending you an email regarding an order of some labels.I want to know if you can special make them for me if you can below are the sizes and quantities of labels i want you to place an order for me.

What to Print: GHANA BLACK STARS.
Size of labels : 1 3/8" x 4 1/4
Font : Times New Roman Font style: Bold Size : 10
What to print on : white gloss paper
Color of printing : Red
Style of printing : Should be in the middle of the paper
Quantity of labels : 200,000

Please these are the quantities and what i want you to print on the labels for me can you please email me back the grand total cost include tax and without delivery as the labels will be picked up from your location okay. Also do you take visa card or master card? Please i don't have an art work for these labels but you can make an art work and send it to me so that i can approve for you to continue the order ok so i will be glad to have a quote back from you and then we move on with the art work. Thank you and look forward to your quick reply.

just never saw this one before i guess the banner scam is a thing of the past
now they have moved into the label business

Have you ever referred to yourself as Mr. or Mrs.? lol. I have not once ever sent an email saying "I am Mr. Brandon Aldred and I am..."

Scam...yes......tell them they are 500.00 a piece....they will say ok and give you a credit card....it will clear....then charge back in a couple of weeks......I've tried it before....

We are starting to get "orders" for hp ink cartridges with software from Texas (we are in WA state). I just delete the emails.

I think I made him mad...

I received this email from "John Lee" requesting labels on Sept. 28, 2010. At first I thought it was legitimate and actually put a quote together for the order. Right before I sent the reply with a quote/proof I re-read the original E-mail to make sure I had all the order details accurate. As I was reading his email something just...didn't seem right. I don't mean to stereotype however, I noticed that everything was written phonetically as though it were from someone who isn't a native English speaker, which is fine, but his name was "John Lee"... and that’s about as English as it gets. Maybe it’s wrong for me to think like that but I'm glad on this occasion because when I googled his name along with "Ghana Black Stars" I discovered the scam. After this, he and I had one last email exchange.


To MR. JOHN LEE, From DAN GREENE:
Hey Mr. John Lee!
I received a quote for your labels today and I think you'll be quite satisfied with these prices. The prices are as follows:

Qty: 100,000, 3 1/2 x 7/8 labels - $3.47 each.

100,000 x $3.47 = $347,000
$347,000 x 73.43% (Tax Rate for scammers) = $601,802.10.

REPORTED! GET A LIFE.

MR. JOHN LEE REPLIED:

***K YOU M***ER***KER! (Censored)

LMAO I THINK I MADE HIM MAD!

But this is kinda scary in a way. If that letter had been written better and the grammar was accurate I would have totally fell for that. We always make customers who we don't do business with a lot pre-pay for something this big, but even that wouldn't have saved us because he's using a fraudulent credit card, right?

I was just thinking of a good way to get at these guys if they sent me an email.

I would be interested to see what they say if you said you would do them for free. Also ship them for free.

I have one for shirts. I told him I ran the card (I didn't) and he was so happy. Then I told him as a good Christian I was going to pay for the shipping and the I had already sent them. This is when he got pissed and canceled the order. I still e-mail him once in a while to ask if he got the shirts.
