Issues with new Roland GX-24 and Flexi.

Got a brand new Roland GX-24 but I am having all kinds of issues trying to get it to work properly. If you feel like reading: http://www.signs101.com/forums/show...n-the-business&p=1222195&posted=1#post1222195

To summarize I have been cutting since 2001 so I have a pretty good idea what I'm doing. Been using a "cheaper" cutter for many years with no problems. I also use a Roland SP-300V for my print cut machine and it works just like my old cutter when needed. Running Flexi 8.1 hooked up to the GX though USB (tried serial too). Here are my issues I am having:

  • I can't poll the size of the width. I am doing roll so it normally tells me roll width. But when I poll the machine it gives me a sheet size over 100k inches square.
  • No matter where I put the object to cut on the preview pane it always cuts at the very left.
  • Also, it always seems to skip down about a yard and start cutting even though I have the object at the top of the beginning of the page/roll.
  • I have also noticed the machine cuts at 40cm speed even though I have it set to 25cm.

I'm guessing these problems may be all related? What I don't understand is why this machine is being so complicated to use. Even my print/cut Roland worked just fine right out of the box with Flexi. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Well I've at least discovered why it was randomly cutting down the roll several feet sometimes. It seems the orientation is not right. I notice if I move the object over to the right of the preview panel it prints directly at left origin point. But if I move the object to the left of the preview pane it it seems to move down the roll that length. The rotate button is set properly. But even if I do rotate it sideways the results are the same. This sure is goofy and I have no idea how to fix it.

Update: I decided to upgrade that computer to Flexi Cloud and that fixed almost all my problems. My only issue now is I still can't poll size. At least it's cutting normal....
