Just got an email about that. I'll need to see what all the stuff is for Ai. I know Ps has some cool stuff, I just hardly use it. Biggest thing I'm looking for is 64 bit Ai.

Edit: One thing that I noticed looking at that list was Soundbooth. I thought they stopped that program with CS5? I thought Audition took it's place? I'm not complaining as I like soundbooth and use it quite a bit, but I just thought that they had stopped support/development on it.

There aren't a boatload of updates to this version of Illustrator, just a select few interesting ones. In addition to performance boosts, Adobe has updated its tracing engine, introduced a new pattern creator tool, added variable-width strokes and the ability to apply gradients to strokes, and tweaked the interface.

In Illustrator, I use the HotDoor CADtools plug-in, which allows Illy to function like a real CAD program, I use the scale and dimensioning tools everyday, so I don't want to have to upgrade CADtools, so I will most likely stay with CS 5.5 for everything except just PhotoShop, and just upgrade PS.

The big winner is Photoshop, I have been using the beta version for several weeks and I think it is well worth the upgrade. Little things like the new cropping tool make a big difference for me.

I didn't see Soundbooth listed as a CS6 application. I looked in both the Master Collection upgrade details as well as the app listing for Creative Cloud.

I got Soundbooth as part of the CS4 Production Premium suite. Soundbooth was not included in the CS5.5 Master Collection suite; Audition was included instead. FWIW, I think Audition is much easier to use. But it is a straight-forward audio editing application. Soundbooth can be used to generate music beds. Maybe Adobe will work some of those music creation functions into Audition at some point. Another very interesting thing on the audio end: Encore CS6 adds DTS Digital Surround encoding (in addition to Dolby Digital) and even offers DTS-HD Master Audio encoding for things like Blu-ray disc authoring projects. By itself the DTS-HD Master Audio app from DTS costs $1500.

Back to Illustrator, I'm not too awful impressed by the feature additions. Gradient on strokes might be pretty handy. However, the effect would not be backward compatible with earlier versions of Illustrator. Not every Illustrator user immediately upgrades to the latest version. That can be a problem when sending art files to other companies when subbing out certain tasks. The Mercury engine and 64-bit rebuild of the app code is probably the biggest thing. But it might break a lot of plug-ins.

It was listed in the original link for the thread, but when I looked again, I noticed that it didn't have any prices for it.

When I tried to upgrade just my illustrator to cs5.5 they would not let me have the upgrade price. If i only wanted Illustrator, they required you to buy the full version of Illustrator. So likely the same issue with photoshop. You cannot simply upgrade one program if you already have the suite.

Believe me I tried. I purchased the illustrator cs5 upgrade from cs3 and when I tried to install it gave me error messages. Spoke to tech support and theyrefunded me and told me I could either upgrade the whole suite and get Illustrator that way or purchase the FULL version of AI if I only wanted AI.
