JFX200-2513 - ERROR 12e HeadFaild /HDC[1 ]

Our JFX200-2513 flatbed printer stopped working originally with a HDC error. We replaced the HDC board with a G5HDC board without much luck. We now have this error: ERROR 12e HeadFaild /HDC[1 ]. The board and heads do no show any shorts between COM and ground.

Any ideas??

The G5HDC board has LEDs 4,6,7,8 lit up shortly after startup. 7 and 8 go out when the error pops up. Also, 1, 2, 16, 17, and 18 are all lit up.

Ok so the fact that LED 8 turned off could mean both heads are fried. The tech manual advises changing both heads. However, the fact that LED 7 turned off could mean there are more electrical issues deeper in the machine. Did you have a power surge recently? Unfortunately at this point I would bring in a tech. They will be able to figure out if it's the heads or another board causing the issue.

Curious why you mention a power surge. Something we really haven't looked at is the power supply. I noticed they Service Manual mentions replacing the "Noise Filter" could that be related to power, or the power supply?

I added a screenshot of the manual for this error. It is really crazy and references many components.

Since you have the tech manual, go to page 336. It has the testing procedures to figure out which board or head might be causing the issue. I'm thinking power surge only because the error is electrical in nature. The noise filter is related to the power supply. It makes sure the power to the machine is stable.

Yes, we went through all the Test Points (TP) and verified the resistances were all good. See the attached table of resistances. I am curious if you have experienced problems with the quality of power and/or the power supply failing?

The machine starting working randomly for several days and then today the "ERROR 12e HeadFaild /HDC[1 ]" came back. This time only LED8 on the G5HDC board went out.

We plugged a new head into the head position #2 without connecting any tubes and the error cleared up.

After changing out the head complete everything is back to normal. What a pain.
