JV150-160 vs jv300-130 Print?

We have a JV150 a year old, and just bought a JV300-150 a couple months ago. We are using Flexi subscription for both rips. The 150 prints bright reds and with the same file the 300 prints oranges. I know this is a profile issue, but do I need a $2500 product to create a profile. We are using the same settings and profile for each machine. I have not had this issue before with the jv3's we ran before. Flexi will create a profile, but what is the best product that will not break the bank to measure color? Thanks in advance for any help.

An i1 Pro is going to run you about $1,000 new, or maybe around $500 used. That said, just as sign-making is not a skill learned overnight, neither is color-profiling - You need to pay very careful attention to dot size selection, ink-restrictions, ink-limits and more. Also, although carefully built profiles will certainly help, the real power of Flexi is in it's design and sign-making features, not in it's color and print engine. Even the folks at SAI have acknowledged this which is why Flexi now includes a "Print to Versaworks" button and a "Print to Rasterlink" button.

Easiest way to get great color from the 150 and 300 is to install above mentioned button along with the RasterLink6 software that came with your printer. It really is an excellent RIP, produces great color and has loads of profiles available for Orafol, 3M, Avery, MacTac, UltraFlex etc... Use Flexi for design and RasterLink 6 for printing and you'll be much happier!
