JV3-160SP - Any way to override ink level sensor??? Waiting on parts to arrive......

Our Mimaki JV3-160SP, running the Grimco aftermarket inks, showed a full cartridge as empty. To buy us time to research it, we had the option to add up to 30cc's, which we did. We called Grimco and ordered the parts from Mimaki (new contact sensor, which reads the chip, and a new cartridge sensor, which reads the level of the ink). The cartridge level sensors are backordered, so in the meantime we can install a new ink cartridge, which it reads as empty, then we can add 30cc's, but when that 30cc's is up, that cartridge is useless and my only option is to buy another entire cartridge to get a whopping 30cc's of ink. I have the machine open and can manually manipulate the sensor and I was hoping to trick it into thinking it had a full cartridge. IF I remove the internal battery and re-start it, might I be able to add 30cc's to the cartridges I have to buy some time until Mimaki gets me the parts? Any other ideas?? Might there be a way to manually keep adding ink for now? I'm nearing desperation level..... Thanks in advance for the help!

I have ink level sensors in stock for $16 plus shipping. You shouldn't need the ink chip reader if it recognizes the cartridge already. The only problem is that the machine has already noted in it's memory that the chip on that cartridge is empty so you will need another chip as well. I also have a new chip for that cartridge for $10. Give me a call if you are interested. 303-733-6671

only way I've been able to override beyond the 30cc's-add, is to grab old chips from other spent cartridges and swap em out.
keep swapping and adding 30cc's until you've cashed the ink cartridge.

*disclaimer: doing so may cause ink to drop-out during a print when the ink runs out. keep an eye on the color, and be ready to stop when the color shifts media is more expensive than ink, so it is completely up to you to decide how close to the cliff you dare to venture.

Just hung up with Jordan at solventinkjet.com and the parts are due to arrive here Monday. I was able to cancel the backordered Grimco/Mimaki parts. Great idea on using an old cartridge chip, but unfortunately the dumpster was emptied Wednesday, so we are out of luck on that one. I suppose I could have done some dumpster-diving at a competitor's shop, but I said I was NEARING desperation, but not quite there yet thankfully. This site is a huge asset! Thanks for everything!
