L260 - Errors when printing

HELP! I am having major issues when sending prints to our HP L260. Suddenly, starting this Monday, when I send a job, I end up with a Status Return Error. When I search this problem I ran across similar problems and tried disabling my AVG, and it worked once. But now I still either get this Status Return Error, or I get Cannot Connect to Port. I have tried a new ethernet cable to the printer, and I have shut down and restarted the RIP and still get the problem. after about 3 restarts I can get a job to send, but the next one fails. Anyone have a clue what is going on? I have had no software changes, no hardware changes, and again this just started 2 days ago.
Running Flexi 10.5, ripping with PM. I wanted to blame it on Flexi, but I send jobs to our Roland still and never have an issue. So something with the communication between the PC and the printer.

The HP L25500 and L26500 (Latex 260) machines communicate various information back to the RIP, along with receiving data from the RIP (bi directional connectivity). To do this, they use ports that other printers don't utilize, and often times these ports are being monitored by anti-virus products.

Over the years, we have seen sudden RIP connectivity errors with HP Latex machines that arise after anti-virus updates. I've seen this problem with AVG, Avast, and Panda anti-virus products, among others.

I will try to completely De-install AVG (temporarily disabling won't necessarily work), reboot the machine and test. If it works, I would recommend using the Microsoft anti-virus product called Security Essentials (Windows Defender on Windows 8). We've never seen an interaction with RIPs using this Anti Virus product.

Well I've had no updates to AVG this week. I have tried disabling. I just uninstalled AVG, rebooted, and sent a job again. No joy. Status Return Error again. I am at my wit's end on this. I have stuff to print, and for no reason at all, I can't anymore. Next step I guess is to uninstall the printer, re-install and see what happens. I have ruled out Flexi or PM as the culprit, because I have no issues with the plotter or the other printer.

If your are using a switch or hub between the printer and your rip, restart the switch or hub. They can easily become corrupted and require a restart. You may also have an IP address conflict, try turning off DHCP and hard coding all network addresses to resolve. Make a list of machines and addresses for reference.

AVG may not have fully uninstalled if you were not in safe mode. I really hate AVG for all the trouble it causes. The initials mean "average", go figure.

Well I think I fixed it...I changed the IP address on the printer, and then changed it in the RIP. Seems to have worked so far, only ran a couple jobs last night. I have more to print here soon so I'll find out soon enough if that worked.
