Laminate durability question

3M's IJ40C is a "7 year" inkjet media and they recommend pairing 8508 or 8509 laminate with it. These are "3 year" laminates.

3M says "typically speaking the base film gives the warranty. I see you will be using the overlaminate with a 7 year film. That is how long the overlaminate will last on top of IJ40C film."

Is this correct? Or am I likely to see the laminate shrink, crack and peel in 4 years?

"typically speaking, the base film gives the warranty. but we will most likely blame the installer and not honor claims"

calendared is calendared and you will most likely see issues with it in 4years. same goes with any calendared product.

8508 and 8509 are junk laminates. No offense meant in any way. on IJ40 we use 8519 or 8518. On IJ35 we use a generic intermediate laminate.

x2 with first hand experience. These laminates are actually clear pvc printable vinyls. Not real laminates and they won't even last a year outdoors. I had a handful of prints peel up after just 6 months WITH rounded corners.
