least amount of time before laminating.

OK so we all get "the rush jobs" I am running a Roland SP540I Eco sol printer. I know they suggest drying or Gassing out of a minimum 24 hrs but had a request to do some small pictures that will be inserted behind plastic I would like to laminate them so they do not stick to the plastic with time. but they need them by the end of the day.

So

A. tell them its a no go with the time frame.

B. print and don't laminate

c print and laminate after 2 hours?

Thanks again.

You are going to get answers from 0-24 hours. They will outgass faster/better if they are hanging vertically and not laid flat. If you lay them put a small fan blowing over them. Try not to lay down too much ink. There are folks that lam immediately, I would think 4 hours and not humid you would be OK but that's just my opinion.

We only overnight the prints that will go outside or on a vehicle. Maybe 10 or 12 hours. Truth is I doubt anyone sets a timer and follows the 24 hour rule no exceptions.

Interior prints outgas a few hours before lam. No issues, ever.

We're testing some vehicle prints right now with 2 different materials. As soon as they were dry to the touch they got lam'ed. Maybe 15 minutes give or take a couple. Too soon to tell if it will hold up although it looks good after a couple months.

even if you lam before completely drying, the solvents can still migrate out through the release liner (paper liner)

Tell them it's not the recommended procedure, but it can be done. However, you won't stand behind it if something goes wrong later on.

Now, they can make an educated decision.

Thanks all. Still new to the In's and outs of the print end of all of this. It is dryer than a popcorn **** here this time of the year so humidity is not an issue. It is a one hit wonder and for a friend of a friend so I will explain the situation. its a case of "ya don't know what ya don't know" and Thanks to Signs 101 once again I know a little more.

again Thanks every one.

LOL For real did the common word for expelling gas get edited? Wow I did not view that as a vulgar word. is there a list of approved and unapproved words aside from the common sense to not use swear words?
