Little black lines in print on Falcon Outdoor

Having problems with little black lines in our print. We suspect it is the encoder strip as we have a small scratch in it. I have priced them and they are expensive, don't want to replace if that is not the problem. Has anyone had any experience with the encoder strip? I have heard that you can turn the strip over, has anyone done that and do you have any instructions on how to change this out? I can't find it in the manual. I have a Mutoh Falcon Outdoor 48".

The encoder strip is a clear strip with tick marks that the printer uses to identify the location of the carriage.

The sensor (I believe) only reads a small area of this strip.

It can be flipped over, but if the scratch is through the entire width that will probably not solve your issue.

You just need make sure to keep the 'print' side of the strip facing the same direction (towards the sensor)

So you would flip it end over end without rotating it.

we were getting some lines printing and was suggested it was static.

We put anti static strips on the printer and all is fine now. No issues at all now.
