Looking for a colleague in Coquitlam with a Latex HP printer. Let's help each other! :)

Hello everyone!

I have a very small "Home Based" business at 859 Huber Dr, Port Coquitlam, Canada - http://quartercheapersigns.ca/ .

I work on an HP Latex 700 W printer.

Unfortunately, from time to time (once every 3-6 months) the printer breaks down unpredictably - and then hell begins.

Like right now - it's been 4 days since the breakdown - but the supplier can't even give an approximate date when a service engineer can arrive at my location with the necessary spare parts. And I'm losing money and customers during this time...

If you are in a similar situation - we could help each other! For example, indicate the cost of printing for such cases - I could print for you in emergency situations, and you can print for me.. For example, there seems to be a function for calculating the cost of printing in accordance with the amount of ink used.

I can work at night and on weekends - if you need my help urgently :)

I also have my own boomlift - I can also be useful.

Thank you all very much in advance :)

I don't think you'll find someone who will do it for ink costs... There's lots more to factor in it than that.

Have you looked at a wholesaler? Signboom is in Aldergrove area and they only do wholesale.... I find them a bit expensive, but they're still cheaper than retail.

Any reason it has to be latex? I work for a shop with a 700w... So I could print some stuff you're behind on, but I don't control their pricing so not sure how high it'd be. If you want to shoot me a message with what you need, I can get costing and let you know.

If it doesn't have to be latex... I have a Epson resin ( Epson's latex) that prints nicer, would be a heck of a lot cheaper than signboom / other shop as I can give it to you for near cost.

Thanks for your reply and the link to the guys from Aldergrove.
I was not looking for a wholesaler, but for an unfortunate HP Latex 700w user like me, who has the same problems as me - the printer breaks down consistently and completely unexpectedly (although mine is relatively new and does not work under heavy load), and the technical service and supply of spare parts leave much to be desired - and can take weeks. I don’t know about other printer manufacturers - but it makes me sad - that everything is so bad with HP - despite the fact that they are widespread, the USA is nearby, etc. For my business, this is like a “control shot in the head”.
Probably, the vast majority of colleagues simply have 2 printers :)
As for the Epson resin - an interesting offer, I sent you a request for the cost.

Who's your supplier? Grimcos great... We're never down for long. There was 1 time we were down for a week and a half because the part was backordered and coming from china... But they overnight everything else and fix it their next available day, which is usually pretty quick.

Do you have the warranty on it? I believe we pay 2.5... or 4k, can't remember. And everything is covered... So they will diagnose over the phone, order a half dozen parts they think it could possibly be (all covered so theyre not shy to order them!) then come swap parts until it's fixed, and return the parts they don't need... Or just put them in if it's something that eventually goes bad.

What problem are you currently having with it? Ours has broken down maybe twice... We've had a bunch of issues where we could still print, but over all seeing how the machines made of plastic, it doesn't seem to have many issues. But it seems hit or miss... Some people on here love them, some don't!

And yes... In this business if you don't want to outsource, you pretty much have to have 2 printers, as shit happens and you can't afford to be down. Heck... We have 3
.. and I've still had to print at home using my resin a few times when we had bad luck and 2 printers died at once. Buy a cheapo Epson s40, it's slow... But the print quality is great and they can be had for 7-10k. Makes a great backup printer, not just for redundancy... But also for the jobs you need a bit better quality on.

Yeah I'm interested as well what problems you have got so far. Because these days 700 is pretty okay, not too much trouble at the field.

If I was you I'd rather get the service manual, some tools and try to see what's up and maybe order the part and fix it yourself.

In our area you can throw a rock and hit 5 techs. Within a 10 minute distance... We have Grimco, Nd graphics, Canadian sign supplies, Cansel... Probably even missing a few. I wont throw out names... but lets say theres a few in there that we wont touch because the service was less than subpar... but Grimco for instance has 2 Fulltime techs, and 2 techs who got promoted, but still work on things when theyre busy. , all of which who are great... And if theyre all busy, theres a city 3 hours away they bring someone in for... I've rarely not been able to get a tech out the same day if they can't diagnose or figure what part to bring in over the phone... and parts are usually flown in the next day. They even have a demo unit, last time our 560 was down they took a bunch of parts out of their demo unit because it was during covid and they couldn't get the parts in a timely matter... So it all depends on which company OP is with... personally, I'd switch if I got bad service! Even if Grimco all of a sudden went downhill... there's so many options.

But if there is no warranty... I imagine theres a longer wait for parts, and theyre / OP is more frugal... not wanting to pay for 5 parts that it may be... Even though Grimco will charge you for them, then refund whatever they dont use. Sometimes seeing a few thousand worth of parts is hard to swallow. Thats why I'd never not use the extended warranty... We only do the parts, and still pay for labor... but it's still well worth it. We've probably got our moneys worth just on edge guards since they replace them for free under the extended warranty... Gone through a few 10 packs of those!
