Looking for a Flatbed or Hybrid UV - Quality over Speed

Hi Everyone. Here's a little background info:

  • Already have a Vutek QS2000 for production
  • Mostly print on Rigid material - MDF (5/8") & Sintra
  • We need a printer that can print initricate details on these substrates like 6-8pt type
  • as stated in the title, quality over speed is what we need
  • I really want white ink! :birthday:
When I was first tasked with finding this new printer, I was given 3 printers to look at, all Rastek - T1000, H650, & H652. They all seemed amazing on paper, but after the first 5 minutes of research, I was discouraged. I've looked around and found the following printers that seemed like they would do a good job:

  • AGFA :Anapurna M2540 FB
  • CET X-Press 500H - Seems like we can expand on product range and it doesn't sacrifice speed for quality. A lot of good reviews!
  • HP FB500
  • Anderson AJET

I'd really appreciate any experiences on any of these printers or other suggestions.

Thanks guys!

Welcome from Denver. We're pretty close to pulling the trigger on a CET, or a Vutek.

The CET for the price is your best bet.

Adam, what CET dealer are you talking with? We're also looking into the 500H among others. Did you decide against the HP 500 or 700 (I recall you were considering them at one point)?

Hey Mike. We have a dealer here in Denver - Sign Specialist - they're a merchant member on here also - It's under the name Robert M.

I was looking at the FB... still have a lot of questions about them... they don't look as solid as the CET... and ive always wanted a true flatbed.

When working with CET, please make sure you contact Jack Sizemore. He will take VERY good care of you!

yeah i talked to jack a while back. Met him in Orlando back in 09'
He's full of information.. He doesn't sell them..He'll throw you in a direction of a reseller

Don't even list Anderson as an option.

You need to decide if you want dedicated flatbed or need hybrid ability - then list the machines in each category. Then list plusses and minusses for each down the line.

I own very first CET and have no regrets.

at the sgia, the agfa probably had the best/sharpest white. i like the machine except for how high it was. the substrate is almost chest high for a short guy like me. CET looked really easy to use and maintain. the CET staff are the best thing about the printer.

Any one here knows how much the top of the line CET 500H sells for with all the bells and whistles ?
Any one knows of a dealer in Canada ?

I take it everyone has the same general aversion towards the rastek line here. :D A local CET dealer I spoke to the other day dropped in to say hello and gave me some info. I'm pretty excited and have good expectations for this printer! Hopefully I can meet Jack in a few weeks.

I'm 5'4"...good thing we have a giant on production. :D

@10Sacer: have you had any experience printing small varied-weight fonts on a MDO or Sintra? If so, what were your thoughts? How close could this machine get to replicating a magazine or newspaper article?
