Looking for confirmation on GerberMag

I have been using a Gerber Edge setup for MANY years now but have never tried making magnets; it's just not what we normally do here.
One of our good customers now wants us to make them a few different custom shaped magnets and I'd like to make them happy, and keep the work in-house. Apparently Gerbermag is pretty straightforward to use, just run it slowly and score it to allow you to snap the magnet out, however I wanted to be sure it would run fine on my older Gerber equipment.

Our current printers are Gerber Edge 1 & a Gerber Edge 2, and our plotters are both HS15+ models.
Will Gerbermag run fine on this setup, or does it only work on EnVision plotters, EdgeFX?

it will definitely work on your old Edge's and HS plotters. You need a 60 degree blade and probably increase the force and you should be good to go. just make sure that GSPPlot knows you are running the GerberMag for the Edge's.

Awesome! Thanks! I assumed that if the machine prints lexedge fine that this would work also, but I was thinking that at some point I had heard that it worked better on the new setups.

One thing to be aware of is that you will need to babysit it when it runs. It will want to cling to steel parts on your Edge and on your plotter.

I tried it when we first got our Edge.
Never liked running it through the Edge or the plotter.
We've always just printed on white vinyl applied to magnum magnet & cut by hand.
If it's a large quantity I guess I'd try running it in the Edge/plotter again.
I believe they made two versions of the mag, one was for vehicles the other for "refrigerator" magnets.

The GerberMag is the lighter weight material that prints and cuts perfectly fine on Gerber equipment. The Gerber AutoMag is the heavier product which also works well but is slightly more challenging to use. With the AutoMag I sometimes had issues with the printing and I think that was because the material was so thick that it didn't accept the heat well enough. Also, since it is magnet, it wants to stick to everything in it's path including itself, which just means that you have to babysit it through the process.

These are for 1.5mil refrigerator-style magnets.

yep it will work but go into your plotter settings on the plot page and move the speed bar down to about 10 or less. it will cut like a sloth but it won't jump off the sprockets

Definitely this. It's been years since I used it but I would tape some coroplast to the outside of the Edge where the material came out to keep it from clinging to it.
