Hi everyone,

Be gentle this is my first post here...

I'm looking for advise for software. We have just gone from PC to MAC trying not to look back. We were using SignLAB and SignCut with Corel Draw X4 what can anyone suggest for desgin and plotting program for use with a Serial connection Gerber HS 750?

Hello from CT.

You will need a USB to Serial cable, check with Gerber for which one they say works. As far as software. its your choice.

True but I'm having troubles finding a decently priced s/w for the MAC that is compatible with our cutters.

Gerber HS 750
USCutter Laserpoint 24"

Oh and the next biggest issues is all our files were created in Corel Draw then exported as EPS for SignLAB and SignCut X2
I really don't want to have to boot down to Windows trying to get away from it all together.

In switching from a PC to a Mac you did just the opposite of what you should have done. You should have said to yourself, “what do I need to do and what equipment/software will do it”.

The Gerber HS 750 has a proprietary command set and not every piece of software will drive it. I know in the past Gerber has given 3rd party companies the “keys” to drive our cutters.

So, now that you’re on the Mac I think you will find it hard to find a solution.

How about Parallels or other Virtual Machine software where you can just switch from Mac to PC, no rebooting, etc

We have found that for your USB to Serial solution the following will work, or have worked for us.
Sewell SW-1301 from Sewelldirect.com
I/O Gear model GVC232a, you need to download the latest driver.

Sell the plotters and get a Graphtec. They come with an Illustrator plug in to cut from and it's simple and works very good.
Illustrator should open your Corel files also.
There you go.

Of course, if Gerber actually upgraded MacImprint you could keep your HS 750 also.
Don't slap me Tony. :)
