Machine keeps going to local mode while printing?

JV3-160SP keeps going to local mode during printing a job.
It'll print for a while, then you walk in there and it's just sitting there back in local mode.
If you press Local/Remote it will return to Remote and start printing right where it left off, but then in a while it'll be back to Local mode again....

We have turned off the printer and rip and tried a couple different settings, but it is still acting up. Any ideas?
(at least we can still print on the other one in the meantime)

thread about this a while back, i believe I remember the issue was the lever up/down sensor being rattled/triggered during the print.

how about the cover?

also, they could seem fine but maybe there's a loose connection in the wiring that's causing it to trip?

I guess I can check all the sensor connections, but there is no error on the screen when you see it sitting there.
Our covers have been bypassed to stay open and continue printing.

it did this once a long time ago, and I thought a good reboot fixed it right up, but that was a year ago so my memory of it isn't 100%...

my jv3 was bypassed to print with the cover open, as well. BUT there should be a magnetic clip on the right side of the cover that sits in place on the machine, that could rattle itself to trigger the sensor. maybe try reseating the clip and/or putting a piece of duct tape over it to lock in place permenantly?

although, i could be thinking in the wrong direction here... its been a while since i've printed on my jv3 (bout a year now) and I actually think that if the CoverOpen sensor is triggered, then it cancels the print entirely. worth a test to confirm, for future reference.
regardless, there might be a thread on here with another few solutions to try. search "jv3 local" or "jv3 pause" and you might get something good that I'm too lazy to dig thru right now :)

If you remove that magnetic clip (open the cover) while the job is printing it gives you the error "Cover Open" on the screen which you have to clear by hitting enter.
This also cancels the job (removes it from the que) and you have to choose your material (roll or leaf) before you can attempt to start printing again.
So, it's not that.

The problem has returned, worked fine Friday and Saturday, then had to fight it all day Sunday.
Mimaki tech says PC problem.

I think it is related to one of the ink cartridge "out of ink" switches; randomly it says the cart is out of ink.
That causes the same condition on the printer (switching to local mode) as we are experiencing.
