Magnet Material- Gloss Or Matte?

I am making 50 1' x 1' magnets out of 030 Magnum magnetic sheeting. I plan to print on a cast material (Orical 3751) and laminate with 290 G. Should I buy gloss mag or matte finish? I will buy a roll, and I will have lots left over, so I am wondering what I should get?

The Magnum tech guy thinks I should run it through my Roland, but I think it may be hard on it. Any comments?

I personally like the Matte better than the gloss. As for running it through the Roland, I talked to a Roland wizard and he said that it can be done, but its best not to because it will wear out the drive rollers and once they are done, the machine is trash. For speed, I would print them with no border and no space between them, print 10 of them at a time and cut them all at the same time. That may seem like a given, but I've seen guys want to cut all of the magnets first and then apply the decals individually. That's way too time consuming.

50 all the same?.....If so, how much will it cost you to do these in-house versus outsourcing?...At that quantity they can be printed on an HP Indigo press on waterproof 30 mil. material...Maybe under 3.00 each......

We use Matte for everything, printed or cut vinyl. I don't have a good answer for why I prefer it, other than I guess I just like the look of it.

using calendared for magnets is such a waste... since as soon as it shrinks even the smallest amount, it pulls on the top layer of the magnet which causes adhesion issues.

Okay then, i am a magician, doing them for years with cal vinyl and never had any issue.

I prefer the look of matte. Also, I carry plenty of gloss white vinyl and prefer to not stock anything I don't have to.

I was thinking the same thing as I am sure the vinyl used on magnetics is anything but cast...Maybe a premium calendered is the best to use.
