Magnetic Dry Erase Sign

What's the best way to make a magnetic dry erase board? We currently make dry erase boards that are non-magnetic with pvc, vinyl graphics and a dry erase laminate. We do a lot of boards that are 4' by 8' and want to start offering the magnetic option.

Any ideas?

magnetic paint on the boards then apply the laminate over it.

I made a magnet board for my kids room this way. Got the magnetic paint at the hardware store.

Will vinyl stick to this for extended periods of time? Also, does magnetic paint dry smoothly???

Thanks.

What I do is buy galvanized sheet metal from a heating mechanical supplier and coat it in the printed grid with the laminate.
You can then adhere the sheet to another substrate for rigidity.

Look into Pre coated or pre painted sheet steel. It can usually be found in a variety of gauges and sheet sizes from your nearest sheet metal supplier. Some suppliers have it in rolls (ColorCoil) and will shear what you need. You can laminate it to whatever substrate you desire, typically using a contact adhesive. 22 gauge is desirable, however, as thin as 30 ga. is also available. You will want to remember that the thinner the gauge...the less steel there is for the magnets to hold onto.

It's better to have two hands than one glove.
Easier to merely get a piece of sheet metal, cover it with white vinyl, perhaps printing logos or whatever on it, and then dry erase laminate.

This is what I did as well. The cost was almost the same as if I had used 6mm PVC and the print laid down really nice.
