making a photo realistic

Hey,

I'm a photo graphic newbie, I'm helping my Dad
out with a trade show display for a machine he sells.

I created a background using a tutorial and added
the machine, but it doesn't look right to me, I think
I need to add another shadow to the left, and maybe soften
up the bottom.

Please look it over and let me know what you think.
BTW the machine is off center because I will be
adding text.

Thanks

If there's on overhead spotlight...

you wouldn't have a cast shadow to the back.
Also, straight black looks dead on photos.
A mirrored reflection would look interesting.

So the shadow needs to be shorted up and more to the left?
I agree, a mirror reflection as if the floor was glazed would be
nice, unfortunately my Dad waited until the last minute and my design
skills are so limited, that may have to be on the next one.

Thanks Shovel

use the clone tool to make the background a little bigger
maybe separate the shadow to a different layer that way you can change the blend and opacity

that should give it a more realistic look
