Managing Dust Question

We don't have any particular dust problem, having good housekeeping and an air scrubber. That said, I feel there can never be enough preventive care.

One additional item I added into the shop was covering the printers at night with a fabric drop cloth.
I've been second guessed on this by someone saying I should use a plastic cloth (like a blue tarp).
They reason cited is that the cloth will trap dust and the plastic will shed it.
I feel that is the exact reason I would want the fabric - dust on the fabric doesn't make it to the machine.

Any thoughts?
