Maybe Im Silly In Thinking This...

So I bought a used JV3-160S right about a year ago. The black printhead has never been 100 percent since I have had it, has a bunched of clogged nozzles and at the end of it and the top is not quite right. I have mainly been doing race car wraps, so to get around the black that turns out fuzzy and has an overspray effect, I turn my CMY to 100% and black to 0% in my color settings. This turns out ok but a shade off of a true black. I hate the fact of light cyan and light magenta, I guess I really dont understand them! Is there a way to make the machine not use that print head and turn them off? If i could do that I could just swap out the LC\LM head for the Black/Magenta. Or at least thats what I am thinking I could do! Has anyone ever tried this?

Don't know the machine but could you swap the dampers or the card on the cartridge? I think the only way a go around would work is if you're printing vectors with pure cmyk, it would seem that the printer will want to use lc/lm where it sees fit for colors that aren't pure c, m, y, or k and then you'll have over spray from that bad head anyway it'll just be lc or lm

If you don't want to replace the printhead there's a few options:
-swap out the light magenta or light cyan with the black as those colors are most forgiving
-remove the printhead and soak it in ink flush over night and see if you can recover some of it
-swap out the black with a light color and then reprofile the machine to only use cmyk if the software will allow it

I Get it, I want nothing more than to replace the head! Things are snug financially right now, I just went out on my own full time, I've spent a fair amount doing so. I also just dropped 8 grand on braces for my step son! I'm looking for a temporary crutch until things get a bit smoother.
