Media Presets in VersaWorks

Hey guys, I know this is a very elementary question, but what do the different (specific) media presets in Versaworks mean? I've heard guys say they rarely change their profile for different medias, but what is the difference in say all of the different reflective media profiles? I tried finding a list that went into more detail, but never found such a thing.

There are differences between profiles forsure. Roland sets them up to work with each particular media because they react differently to heat (stretching differently), color settings, vacuum settings etc. Lots of people seem to run with only a few profiles, we are forced too right now with the new VG640. I think if that's your workflow (to use only a couple profiles) it'd be very wise to have media presets saved onto the printer itself. (feed calibration, bi-directional alignment etc...) I'm no tech expert but ya, there are differences between profiles.

Thank you for your response. I was more or less asking if I load up a roll of Oracal 5600 for example, which preset profile is closest to that media? Since there are several options to choose from, I didn't know if there was a breakdown of each preset somewhere to look at. Thanks
