Pick up a pair of drumsticks.... I go out and play rock-star on weekends, this winter we didn't do many shows but I have 4 coming up in the next 5 weeks. The 20 pounds I picked up this winter will be gone and then some, I can lose 2-3 pounds a show till I hit around 170, then it seems to stabilize... :rock-n-roll:

One of the doctor guys on TV said, one day a week, don't eat anything, just water all day, said it's good for losing about five pounds a week. Your mileage, may vary.

Fasting is very healthy. I question the validity of five pounds a week. You may lose that much the first week due to excess water weight and stored intestinal waste. But to consistently lose that much weight per week over a longer duration is neither healthy nor practical.

It takes roughly a deficit of 3,500 calories to lose one pound a week. If you do the math, the only way to lose five pounds a week (in fat) would be to eat nothing at all. And that's based on a 2,500 calorie daily intake. Obviously, that's not healthy since your body would then begin consuming lean muscle tissue.

I've found that 1.5 to 2 pounds a week is very doable, yet it takes a good bit of discipline.

OK. Just repeating what the man said on the TV. I don't need to loose much weight, I need to quit smoking.

Most people, after quitting smoking, start to gain weight. Be careful. It's just a natural process. Mostly at night, when you don't know what to do with your hands and you wanna stick something in your mouth..... you reach for some kinda snack food. Instead of potato chips, go for kale chips or a carrot. Don't forget to do your deep breathing exercises, either. The few minutes you're smoking and deep breathing while inhaling a smoke, you're relaxing your body, thus why so many reach for a cigarette when they're upset. So, your body misses the deep breathing, so do it on your own for 3 or 4 minutes once or twice an hour. You'd be surprised.
