Mimaki CG-130FX - cutting/plotting jagged

Hello

Our Mimaki CG-130FX vinyl plotter has started acting strangely.

When sending through simple, straight and smooth outlines(fonts and lettering) it cuts badly. Circles are not closed, it cuts jagged, etc.

Why is this happening? At first I thought it may be the black rubber strip moving around under the blade but this is not the issue.

It seems more like it could be a communication error between the software and plotter?

I am running Corel Draw X7, FineCut 8 version 8.5 EN and Windows 7 X86.

Please advise any solution.

Cheers,

David

Most of the time jagged cutting is cause by a bad blade or bad cut strip. Take a close look at the tip of the blade with a magnifying glass. It should have a very fine point to it and not rounded or broken at the tip. If that looks good, check the strip. The strip should be very smooth and shouldn't have a big cut going down the middle. If it does, that is probably causing your issue.

If those two items are sound, then you can start looking into a bad blade holder and then electrical/physical issues with the machine. I don't think software would cause this unless you are vectoring bitmaps and not smoothing out the nodes.

I have seen an issue like this before on another bran cutter where it ended up being a motor/pulley issue but check the easy stuff mentioned above first.
