Mimaki CJV 150-30 ink/printing issue

Has anyone ever seen this? I have my printer set on a normal heat setting for printing IJ180Cv3. This crackle only happens when I'm printing all black. The crackle starts when it hits the post heat platen (set at 105 degrees). It doesn't happen with any other color. It's happened in the past with other cartridges, so I don't think it's an old/defective ink issue.

Obviously laying down waaaay too much ink. Check the mix in your design program. If it's RGB, change it to CMYK. Set it at say 10,10,10,100.
Or else check your rip settings - profile, max ink, passes etc.

Hey Neil - thanks so much. I did make some of these changes before I saw your reply and, indeed, the file was set to RGB. Appreciate your response! Printing perfectly now.

Good to hear. But, a proper profile/printmode should be able to handle RGB without over-inking like that.
You need to look under the hood in the rip program and see if you can alter the amount of ink laid down before you print.
It's handy for different materials or certain files. For instance, you may have an RGB image with RGB black in it.
