Mimaki JV3 160s Pump Issues

I've looked through the forum and haven't found anything quite like what i'm looking for. We recently bought a Mimaki JV3 160s and the pumps were disconnected. We tried reconnecting them the best that we could but we're not sure if the hoses are in the right place. After scoring the internet for hours I'm now turning to you guys, could someone please post up some pictures of a properly installed pump for this printer so I can see where all of the hoses connect. It would really help me out.

the "S" series has the pumps on top, in each pump there are 2 tubes, one will be very long, the other, relatively short.

The short tube leads to the capping station and is connected by a little metal tube ( it slides inside the tubes to tie them together)

The longer tubes lead to the waste bottle.

one tip. pull the harness of waste bottle tubes out of the main hole in the printer. feed them individually to three separate holes drilled onto the outside of the waste bottle. at any time, you can pull an individual tube to see if you are getting flow, or set a syringe at the end to pull fluid through the system (you'll need a partner on the other side to keep feeding solvent down from the cap).

Is there a dead line on one of the pumps, there are two tubes (or 4 connections) on each pump but only 3 connections to the capping station. I think we have one pump connected properly but we can't figure out the other one.

that dead line would be for a four head machine. i'd take the tube out of it and save it somewhere. you might in a year or so want to use it as a replacement in one of the other pumps sides if the vacuum gets weak.

Awesome, Thanks for that info, which line is the dead line. As in is it on the left or right pump (looking at it from the front) and is it the front or back tube on that pump?

or does it matter which line is dead?

A good resource for the JV3

Next time you have a problem you can go to Yahoo/Groups/JV3 There are 1000's of posts there dealing with every conceivable problem that the JV3 has gone thru.

i'm a sp owner. but i'd figure it doesn't matter. both sides will pull when isolated at the menu.

each pump handles 2 colors, so you will only use 3 sections. as for their placement it doesn't really matter.

Typically the configuration is black and magenta section 1 (pump one front)
cyan and yellow section 2 ( pump one back)
Lm and Lc section 3 ( pump 2 front)
section four ( pump 2 back ) unused.

I would recommend against pulling the pumps apart, minimal gain to save the 2mm tubing and you could potentially mess up the pump.
