Mimaki JV300 Banner Profile

I'm really struggling to find an ICC profile that gives us good results on blockout vinyl ( Key Banner, Gans 16 oz blockout etc.) on our JV300 (CMYK, Raster 6, SS21). I've tried numerous profiles but the output just keeps coming out too dark. The same files print just fine on our HP 365 latex. Am I barking up the wrong tree for an over density output?

Maybe you are mistaken in looking for just an ICC profile?

Mimaki calls their machine / ink / media setups “device profiles” and that term they use could be confusing, for sure. The ICC profile is just a component of the “device profile” setup. Settings for workflow, hardware, resolution, ink restrictions, gray balance calibration, ink limits, etc., being among other components. Any ICC output profile, to be accurate, is dependent upon what those particular settings are.

Are you able to calibrate your setup to print lighter on this material?

You might call your Mimaki dealer or a specialist if you don’t already have the hardware, software, knowledge, and time to create your own profiles.

Thanks for the suggestion! We have a couple of Ultraflex profiles but they are coming out a bit dark too. I'll grab some others and give them a try.
Raster Link also has a nice feature where you can compare several profiles head-to-head and then choose the best match. Import a small job to print, e.g. A4 size and then choose several profiles to compare the print output in "Quality-->Print Quality-->Check the matching of device profiles". It will print the same picture with different profiles that you've chosen. Then you might find a best one match.

Other thing you can try is to lower the whole ink density for e.g. 10% in Raster Link, in "Quality-->Color Adjust". There you can play with whole ink density, or per specific ink channel.

Thank you very much, the "Quality→Color Adjust" did it. While it was simple wasn't intuitive. All the adjustments were inactive in the "Standard" set and I had to pull the manual up to find out how to create another set to activate the adjustments. Output looks great now.

Glad te hear it worked. Indeed, adding then new setting is a challenge w/o knowing how to do it. Sorry I didn’t mention it in my previous message.
