Mimaki JV33 Magenta Nozzles Blocked

Black Star

Not A New Member
I have my JV33 setup in my shop as a backup printer. I didn't check the maintenance fluid and it must've run dry a couple of months ago. The printhead test wouldn't print any of the colors at first. I was able to recover all of the black, cyan and yellow nozzles but the magenta will not recover any nozzles. I checked the dampers and they seem to be working. I've done multiple custody wash soakings overnight. I hooked up a syringe with cleaning fluid and tried to gently push it through the magenta nozzle on the printhead but it wouldn't budge. I didn't want to press any harder than I was.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be appreciated!

The fact that your other 3 colors came back means your cap etc is probably working okay.
Sometimes though, it can be only partially working - and not strong enough to pull ink through all the nozzles.
Check under the cap. Put some maintenance fluid in the cap and then do a cleaning. See if you can see the fluid drain through both tubes.
I've had one completely block up.

Do this at your own descretion....

power down the printer and disconnect it from the mains.
disconnect the magenta line over the channel that is not working and connect some hose and your syringe (filled with solvent) in place of that damper then try to GENTLy push solvent through.
pulling it forwards and backwards EVER SO SLIGHTLY can help loosen up any dried ink.

Another method is if you can get multiple cleaning/solvent carts, you can do multiple ink fill ups to loosen up the ink.

It's not a sure thing, but it can/has helped me in the past.
