Grease on the encoder will definitely cause this issue. Sounds like the tech might have used a little too much!

Mimaki discontinued those printers years ago. It was replaced by UCJV and UV

Maybe Im wrong, they stop selling it where i am from, like SIJ model. But those printers definitely not new and was built at least 7 years ago

They definitely don't make them anymore but they are still on the support list so parts should still be available at least.

Call Mimaki. They are down there in SoCal. If one of their techs doesn't want to moonlight they can probably recommend someone,

Reviving this old thread to add some information for anyone looking for it.

We are now on our 4th Y motor on this machine...looks like they are failing after 1-1.5 years (780 - 1170 hours). Anyone else with experience on this machine think this is abnormally low?
