Mixing Aftermarket and Genuine Ink Cartridges

Hello everyone - question regarding our VS540. Being a little older of a machine that we completely service ourselves in house, we are considering switching from Roland inks to aftermarket. Are there issues with running aftermarket inks in a few channels and Roland in others? We have a partial set of roland inks on the shelf, and was going to order aftermarket to complete the set when it's time to switch inks. Should we wait until after we use up all of our existing genuine inventory and switch all the cartridges to aftermarket at the same time?

Ask the third party ink manufacturer. Sometimes the answer is yes and sometimes no. It depends on the manufacturer. We sell the Bordeaux brand which is considered, "pour over" which just means you can swap them in as you run out of the OEM ink without flushing.

I'm not sure of the 100% correct answer, but the cost of a few half used cartridges being thrown out can't be worth that much to take a chance of their mixing capabilities working or not.

Last Roland I had I switched to Solaris inks, first cartridges, then bulk tanks. When I made the initial switch I just popped full cartridges in as the Roland ones emptied, never flushed lines or anything, had zero issues pushing the old ink out of the lines. Totally uneventful. Your experience may very, but that was mine.

The company I bought my sc545-ex from mixed brands all the time. That being said it needed 4 heads when I bought it My suggestion Is put a little of the current ink in a small Pyrex dish. With eye dropper or pipette add a couple drops OF A DIFFERENT COLOR of the new ink. Look for coagulation, etc reverse and repeat. If there is no reaction I would probably chance it.
