Modify vj1204 waste tray to tank

Seeking help from vj1204 users to give some direction to modify waste tray to waste tank instead.

Appreciate any ideas.

Drill hole at the inner-left corner of the tray in the dimension so your long throat grommet can push though, glue the grommet in place. Connect the grommet with a clear tube (from aquarium store), lead to a liter ink bottle or soda bottle.

U think it's possible to connect a tube directly from under the cap station to the waste bottle and bypass the tray altogether ?

I suppose the tube and new bottle got to be solvent resistant and well sealed ?

sorry man had to dig up my old post ask more questions.

For users of 1204, do you really buy and replace the pads inside the waste tray ?
Or . . really buy the waste tray-kit ?

Haven't changed mine for couple of weeks.
What I did was to just pour out some waste ink from the tray and that's it.
So I want to check with you 1204 users how you go about it.

Please let me know.
