The 1943 kind of looks like optima and/or Copperplate Gothic

1943 photo Looks to be Friz Quadrata BT Roman ...possibly stretched a tad.
A "straight on" photo or pencil rubbing would tell more than an angled shot, when comparing to a font sample.

I came up with FrizQuadrataMN too...also Septimus (Regular), Quadrat (Regular) & TR France(Plain) which all look the same.

Friz Quadrata and I believe some version of Clearface Bold.
