I just purchased from SW the Muthoh sign wrap package and have not received it as yet. prism jet vj48 , q54 cutter, enduralam 54 laminator.
I would like to get some feed back of anyone else who has this equipment and how they feel about it's performance.

If at all possible, get a sign wharehouse tech to set up the laminator in your shop.

After you get all the equipment up and running, get the system properly profiled by someone who knows what they are doing. That alone will save you time and money, more than you can imagine.

#1 Unpackage, build stands, then install your machines on the stands.

#2 Connect printer to computer with the blue cat-5 cable that is included with the package.

#3 Connect cutter to computer via USB

#4 Install Flexi 8.6 on your computer to save time on phone.

#5 Call Tech support before turning printer on. Ask for Keith or Ron and that's it !!! If neither is available then ask to be put into one of their voice mail's for a call back. I highly recommend talking to one of these two, the amount of knowledge they have for the machines they sell is 2nd to none, anyone else I've gotten could never seam to answer my questions fully. Keith or Ron will walk you through setting up everything over the phone. From flushing the system of the solution they put in the machine for shipping to sending a print/cut job.

If I remember correctly it took about 20-30 minutes to do everything with another hour or so after answering my noob questions.

There are a lot of color profiles that come preloaded with Flexi 8.6 that you will be getting with your package deal. Also, if you contact Ron at SW tech support. He has made a few color profiles that he can send you. He sent them to me and they seam to work out just fine.

I purchased my VJ-1204 as a repo last August. In the past year I've been amazed at the print quality and ease of use/maintenance for this machine. I've run banners, wrap material, all sorts of other adhesive vinyl as well as poster paper and window perf. It handles them all beautifully. It will print a full 48" in uni-directional mode - I've done it. However, you'll need 50 inch material to take advantage of that.

One thing I mention as a "negative" is the waste tray instead of a waste bottle. I am in the process of designing my own waste bottle system to take the waste tray out of the equation. Another negative or annoyance, is access to the head and maintenance station is a little cramped. When doing a thorough cleaning it's best to remove the entire side cover so you can really get in there and clean well. However, this is the same as the 1304.

In the end, take care of your machine and it will take care of you. I've shut mine down for up to 3-4 days and come in, done a quick wash and back to printing. *BTW - I also turn mine off every night.

Feel free to PM me with any questions, I'll try to answer them the best I can.
