Mutoh VJ Main board, cable and print head question

I have a new main board, cable and print head coming for our VJ1604.
My question is If I install the cable and head into it without the main board will I be able to test these without causing them damage?
The reason being if the fault is in these items only I can return the mainboard if it has not been used?
At the moment (this is after it blew the f2 fuse on the main board) it is doing a print test where we have 2 channels of black, 2 channels of cyan, 2 channels of yellow but only one channel of magenta and from what I can see the other magenta channel is printing a solid block over everything!
Or should I just replace everything? See Picture.
Also what issues do I have installing the main board, If I install it will it work out of the box or is their firmware to install?

SC, I don't have answers to your questions but I do have the 1604 service guide if you need it.
The steps for replacing the parts you listed are in the guide.
Along with a troubleshooting guide to try and narrow down the issues before parts replacement.
As far as I know you do need to load the old info into the new board's firmware.
It can be key'd in manually or downloaded from the old board and then uploaded onto the new one.
I think the techs that know this stuff are asleep at this time.

YIPPEE HOORAY WOOHOO.

My printer is working again!!!!!
I got a tech in and he checked the main board and found it to be OK.
Then replaced the head cable, print head and cleaned up and done a bit of maintenance on the station and it's like new.
I am a happy bunny
It has printed non stop for the last 7 hours.
