Hi, feedback appreciated on this... logo for motocross decal company (hence the tyre-like circle).

Print that out at 15-20 mm diameter and see if you can read it. Then try it on different color backgrounds.

I see what your trying to do, but it's not working for me. Instead of the "panel" being the same color, make it a different color, and make it look like a panel over the tire.

I'm not digging the font either. I'd look for a font that is more "automotive".

Maybe something more literal? I would ditch the 100%, etc. Quality decals is all the potential customer needs to know. I would use a higher contrast color scheme with brighter colors like yellow, orange, or lime green. Use fonts that are modern and project that feeling of life in the FASTLANE.

Thanks a lot for the comments, I guess I was going for something a little more subtle and simple compared to the type of logo suggested, I wanted to step away from a typical bold bright and layered 'sign' type design. In the uk I think it would be pretty old hat. Thanks again, I'll try something else

Can you read your top copy?

You may want subtle, but if you can't read it, it shouldn't be on a logo.

JS nailed it, but of course that will be ignored, because in the UK bright & bold designs that are legible and convey the product well are old hat.
Well maybe that design doen't reflect this particular product, it's more about subtle and hard to read.

Lol why are you sounding so angry about this?

js has done a good job of designing a generic bold logo, my point was that that style is massively overused. I now know the top text is too small, so thankyou.

What I'm trying to create is something a bit different that doesn't blend in the with the 1000 other mx logos who have just used a black contour to try get the message across. Maybe i should have mentioned this earlier but I specialise in vintage replica decals, so in my opinion the typical bold fast style wont be quite right... anyway as i mentioned before it's back to the drawing board

................what you think of this? Technically it has the same faults that were picked up with the first version, haha. BUT, it's different

If subtle is what you're after, then why be concerned with a logo ??

If one has enough business, that they don't need to attract anymore, why worry about looks, colors or anything aesthetic ??

Other than well marketed companies or well established businesses, subtly is usually not your friend, regardless if you're in England or Africa. Becoming known can only be achieved a few ways, and blending in with your surroundings generally isn't one of them. If we were talking about doing interior decorating in your shop, then, subtleties work well.

I would lose the gradient. Reduce this down to the size you will put as your tag on the number plates and see if you can read it. The logo provided above is an awesome example as well as the black and white version you could use as your plate bug. Maybe try that with your new version?

I think you have mis-understood, I was refering to a small, specific part of what is an inital logo design idea. At no point did i say my aim is to create a subtle logo :thumb:

Well, excuse me for my bad, then.

I thought after reading your post# 8 and some of your other comments along the way,, you were looking to develop a logo, but of subdued colors and elements, therefore being rather non productive.

I'm sure you'll find what it is you're looking for, but when you come to a gathering of like minded people, you're naturally gonna get help on both sides of the fence. Unless you explain yourself beforehand, I don't think anyone here is in the mind reading business.

Good luck with whatever retro fit or less then eye catching set up you want. :thumb:

your #13 re-do isn't bad. I wouldn't follow the shape of the "T" as the whole thing is symmetrical and that little part looks odd. try making the blue and white borders match on both ends of the word.
