My .pdf files have weird looking I's & L's

For some reason my i's and l's always look weird when I save .pdf files.

Usually I will create a file in illustrator convert out outlines and save as a .pdf. The file will look fine if I open it in illustrator but if I open it in Acrobat the i's and l's look like they are the wrong size. If you zoom in it seems to fix itself though.

Does anyone else have this problem and if so, how can I fix it?

TIA,
Nick

always happens to me as well, converted to curves or not - I attribute it to rendering the smaller type - as said, fixed when zooming (or when the letters are larger on screen)

In Acrobat or Reader preferences un-check the box shown in this screen cap.

I have noticed this for years and oddly enough not one client has ever mentioned it on a proof.
