Need Help Diagnosing Print Issue – HP Latex 365 Not Printing Yellow (Possibly Other Colors)

Hi everyone,

I haven’t used my HP Latex 365 in over 6 months—it was powered off and unplugged during that time. I recently started it back up and noticed yellow isn’t printing, and possibly other colors as well.

The ink cartridges are expired, and I plan to replace them all. I’ve already cleaned the printheads and ran some image quality checks. I also printed some test plots (see attached), and I’m getting error 98:03 about a potential print quality issue. It recommends checking the printheads via the Printhead Status Plot.

Could someone help me diagnose what’s wrong? Do I need to replace any printheads—and if so, which ones? Any recommended steps would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I'd take out your yellow print heads, get a plate and fill it with water... Just enough to cover the bottom of your head, not enough to wet the back electronics rhkugh. Let it sit for a few mins in the water, pull it out and gently wipe it a couple times with a lint free cloth.... Throw it in and do another nozzle check, see if the yellow comes back.

Looks like you need head 2, 5 and 6... I'd try soaking all 3 first and do another cleaning then print the test, see if there's any improvement.

How old is the ink? Few months, even a year past due..probably not too dangerous to keep using it with your current heads.

Ink is quite old. Like 9-18 months year past due. That's dangerous to keep using right?

Depends. Heads have an expiration date as well.... One of the HP Gurus on here can chime in as I'm not sure how bad expired ink is, I've used some white ink thats been 1+ year expired because we never use white, and it didnt effect anything. It's always a risk, but if you're still on your old printheads and not putting a new one in, I'd keep using the old heads. If you put a new printhead in... I'd change ink though, you immediately void the printhead warranty by using expired ink, so it's not worth it.

The printheads and ink are ~2.5 years old (got the printer new in late 2022). I'm going to try your suggestion to see if it works temporarily but will eventually replace all printheads and ink. I really appreciate your quick assistance. Thank you so much.
